Chiropractic is a health care profession that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system (neuromusculoskeletal is just a fancy name for all the nerves, muscles and joints in the body). Chiropractic treatment focuses on manual therapy including spinal manipulation and other joint and soft tissue manipulation, and includes exercises and health and lifestyle counseling.

D.D. Palmer Founded in 1895 by D.D. Palmer, chiropractic has developed into a unique non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical system of health care. It is based on the self-healing capacity of the body and the primary importance of the proper function of the nervous system. Therapy is aimed at removing irritants to the nervous system and restoring proper function and balance to the spine and body. Common methods of treatment include chiropractic adjustments, lifestyle modification, nutritional therapy, and physiotherapy.

As current research and exploration into body-mind interaction, whole-person wellness, physics, and human biology progress, the Palmers' concepts of sickness, disease, health, and life are continually shown to be far ahead of their time.
